Flying House
Yoko Takashima & Nikolaj Recke | 2002
A collaborative artwork created for the Blind Date project (2001-02), Flying House emerged after eight months of email correspondence between Yoko Takashima and me. The original vision involved two houses flying freely above Odense, representing the boundless space where dreams, longings, and desires could take flight. However, weather conditions ultimately redirected the physical outcome, though the conceptual core remained intact.
Exhibited at Brandts Klædefabrik in Odense, the work reflects the power of imagination and the enduring human impulse to transcend limitations. The project is a playful yet poignant exploration of aspiration, where even the obstacles of reality cannot diminish the intention to give form to our deepest wishes.
